I'm a licensed psychologist (PSY#27903) holding a Clinical Associate Professorship at Stanford University and a private practice. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from PGSP/PAU and completed my generalist clinical psychology internship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and 2-year T32 NIH-funded post-doctoral research fellowship in eating disorders at the UNC Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders. I've also held research positions at UCSD Eating Disorders Center for Research and Treatment and Stanford University WEIGHT Lab. Post graduate training, I received advanced training in couple therapy under the mentorship of the founder of cognitive-behavioral couple therapy, Dr. Don Baucom. In short, I received extensive training in the biopsychosocial model and the delivery of evidence-based practice for a variety of issues including eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety and mood disorders, crisis intervention, relationship concerns, and couple therapy. Training has been ongoing to expand knowledge in mental and behavioral health as well as to provide trauma-informed, weight-inclusive, gender-affirming, and culturally competent care. I've worked across all levels of care, including outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient programs.
As a research-practitioner, I have developed and studied both prevention and treatment programs for eating disorders. This work included developing protocols for delivering therapy in individual and couple-based formats either in person, online, or via video-conferencing. Most recently, as lead-PI, I piloted virtual reality based cue exposure therapy (VR-CET) and emotion regulation protocols for binge eating. Within Stanford Psychiatry’s Virtual Reality & Immersive Technology Program, I am fortunate to work with a group of interdisciplinary academics passionate and called upon to evaluate, innovate, and disseminate advances in the field of virtual and augmented reality technology in real world clinical settings. I continue to remain actively involved in research with this work informing my clinical practice and vice versa.
As training the next generation of clinicians and researchers and disseminating knowledge is important to me , I teach graduate level psychology courses at Stanford University, remain active in leadership positions within the Academy for Eating Disorders, and consult with practitioners in the community. I am a member of the California Psychological Association (CPA), Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS). Passionate about helping others, I find it an honor to get to know and hopefully positively influence each client who comes into my life.
On a personal note, I’m an academic momma to two girls. I love spending time with my family, rescue dog "Clover", and friends; hiking and back packing; traveling the world; and reading.
